The Best Sunglasses I have Ever Owned Are Only $6

I decided not write write anything geeky or techy today, but instead talk about another love of my life... My sunglasses. Some people like to walk around sporting $200 Raybans, or $300 Oakleys. I on the otherhand hate paying for expensive sunglasses mainly because I lose them all the time.

No, my favorite pair of sunglasses only costs roughly $6.00. Cheap compared to Raybans right? Perhaps, but can your Raybans withstand a forklift being driven over them? I doubt it. Mine can though. They are Hercules Sunglasses from Global Vision. Check out this video:

I have owned several pairs of these, not because they have broken or worn out, but like I said above, I tend to misplace my sunglasses. At $6.00 it's not that big of a deal. The first pair I had for over four years though, and they were as good as the first day I bought them. What got me writing about them now is I just had to buy some new ones, because I lost my last pair. I'm pretty sure there are Gremmlins in my house or something.

Here are some specs from their website:

  • Meets ANSI Z87.1-2003 Standards for use in Industrial Applications
  • Shatterproof Polycarbonate Lenses
  • UV400 Filter for Maximum UV Protection
  • Scratch Resistant Coating
  • Nylon Frame
  • Rubber Ear Pads
  • Clear, Smoke and Yellow Tint Lenses
I do have to say that the newer incarnations are a bit more rigid than they used to be, but they are still damned tough, and virtually unbreakable.

The Global Vision site has them listed for $12.00, but you can pick yourself up a pair at Amazon for only $6.00. They are probably the best sunglasses ever made for less than $20.
