How To Enable The Start Button in Windows 8

Today I am installing Windows 8 for the first time in preparation for next week's Tech Chop. I've heard a lot of people complaining about Windows 8, and the number one complaint is that Microsoft has gotten rid of the start menu that we've all grown to love over the last 17 years or so by replacing it with a stupid Start Screen that looks like it was designed with tablets in mind, and forgot about traditional PC users.

Well there is a way to get your start menu back in the form of a free third party app. Introducing Windows 8 Start Button! Here are the features from their page:

  • Restore Windows Start button and Start menu on Windows 8!
  • Make 'desktop mode' as your default Windows startup screen
  • Choose appearance: classic windows, aero mode, Win 7 and more!
  • Restore all your familiar windows menus and options
  • All that and more, absolutely free!
Here's a screen shot:

Pretty cool right? Now it looks like Windows 7, you know the only version of Windows since XP that hasn't sucked balls!

Anyway, what do you think about the new Start Screen? Like it? Hate it? Are you here to get your classic Start Button back? Let us know in the comments!
